Vila Andrade Campus

Motivated by the ideal of a fairer future for the country, the Institute founded the Free School in 1966. Currently called Vila Andrade Campus, the site is an educational center for around 1,200 students, all of whom receive full scholarships. Moreover, the beneficiaries are granted uniforms, school supplies and meals free of charge, besides free English and German classes. Interested students have the opportunity to join further education courses in Artistic Expression such as Big Band, Dance Company or Choir. Vila Andrade Campus also offers the Young Business School project, which prepares our High School students for the world of work through Digital Education, Business English and Financial Mathematics classes. Additionally, they receive educational and professional guidance, which helps them become better citizens, enter a college and the labor market. The application for the Elementary, Middle and High School for the school year of 2024 is available in the second semester of 2023.

The beginning

At first, 36 children were admitted to the day school, and 35 adults to the night school, back when Porto was still based on Praça Roosevelt, São Paulo. The group was made up by low-income people, who had been lured to the neighborhood due to urban densification, public and private building works.

In 2011, the School started its activities in Vila Andrade, which provided openings for a higher number of lower-income students, amounting to 600 new admissions both in the morning and the afternoon.
