Languages

Porto grants certificates from the German and Spanish governments, as well as the University of Cambridge. One of Porto's biggest commitments is to offer students proficiency in German and English within the regular course, as well as in Spanish extra courses through classes that emphasize the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The interest in foreign universities grows every year, and the multilingual education offered at Porto is a passport to academic and cultural experiences that put students at an advantageous position in a competitive, globalised world.

German

The Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) is the German language proficiency diploma issued by the German Conference of Ministers of Education and Culture. It attests to language fluency and provides easy access to universities in the country. It is also often required—or seen as an edge—for admission to government programmes for studying abroad. The Deutsches Sprachdiplom Certification (DSD I and DSDII) is part of the partnership programme with the German government. Within the curricular framework of the regular course, students have an extensive workload of classes in German, which, in addition to the language, addresses German culture and traditions.

We are an authorised testing centre for the Studienkolleg exams, which selects students at the end of the 12th grade of High School to participate in the preparatory course in Germany, lasting from six months to one year, to enter German Universities. Porto offers the preparatory course for admission, with weekly classes at no additional cost, in addition to helping with the bureaucratic procedure for the registration of accepted students.

English

Porto Seguro has been an authorised testing centre for the international exams of the University of Cambridge for 10 years. This means that the tests are applied internally at Porto from the 4th grade of Elementary School onwards, through a contract signed with Cambridge Assessment English. In 2022, Porto celebrates its 10th anniversary as Authorised Center BR012, issuing more than 11,000 language certificates to our students and alumni, between Pre-A1 and C2 levels. Within the curricular framework of the regular course, students have an extensive workload of classes in English, in which the cultures of English-speaking countries are also learned.

Spanish

The Spanish course is offered, optionally and free of charge, as an extracurricular course, from 8th grade on. Porto Seguro has held tests for the DELE Certificate (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) since 2003. Based on an agreement with Instituto Cervantes, it is administered by teachers from the institute and corrected by the University of Salamanca. This certificate opens doors to Spanish-speaking colleges.
