MAKER KIDS – KINDERGARTEN 5

Kindergarten

The Maker Kids course aims to develop motor skills, creativity, teamwork and project sharing. Students have the opportunity to put their ideas into practice, automate and have fun while learning. All enrolled students receive a kit to assemble projects using different materials such as cardboard, recyclable materials, LEDs, batteries, MDF, among others, to learn different ways of working, both manually and with machines.

MAKER KIDS – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In this course, the basic elements of electricity and electronics are explored, including simple electrical circuits, conductors and insulators, lighting devices, sound devices, motors, switches, buttons and sensors. Students gain knowledge of mechanics, rotational, translational and vibratory motion, as well as practical skills in assembling structures and using motors. The course incorporates the concept of computational thinking through solving puzzles and programming autonomous robots, providing a rich and varied educational experience.

WEMAKER – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In this course, students can dive into the maker universe. Combining logic and creativity, students learn to develop projects and explore the complexities of interacting with intelligent machines, the Internet of Things (IoT), unplugged computing, games, and more. They then think about current problems and propose solutions using digital and low-tech technologies, creating prototypes and creative interventions.

KidsTube

The streamer profession is one of the most exciting, allowing the development of creative and communication skills, preparing young people to take up prominent positions on TV, and online channels, among others. In this course, students learn many techniques for video editing, scriptwriting, agenda organisation, filming, stop-motion, etc., always based on the concept of digital citizenship. They also develop skills on how to gain confidence while being filmed and feel more at ease in the production process as a whole.

Hack Gaming & Game Design

Students learn all the steps of creating a game from scratch, from modelling the elements in 3D to programming and turning the game into a real product. Throughout the course, students have complete creative freedom to develop their own games, which will be 100% playable and ready for public release. Supporting software is used to customise each student’s experience and extend the platform and learning capabilities.

Porto Robotics League

This course aims to broaden the students’ perspective regarding the world of robotics, automation and programming, using the latest LEGO Robotics kits for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition, one of the most prestigious in the world. Students explore essential topics, ranging from robot mechanics and kinematics to electronics, sensors and actuators. Students have the opportunity to work on projects that simulate real-world situations, and develop practical skills in solving problems with robots. By the end of the course, they will eventually be able to compete in the FLL alongside students with different levels of knowledge.

Middle and High School

App Factory

Imagine having your own application published on one of the largest platforms in the world, used by people from different countries and generating financial returns in one of the fastest-growing markets. This course covers all stages of application development, starting with the basic premises of screen modelling, function programming, deployment and publishing of the app. Having completed the course, they will be ready to take the next steps.

Maker & Tech Garage

Students will explore the basics of the Internet of Things (IoT), delving into the networks of connected devices that are changing how we interact with the world. They learn to design, build and program devices using platforms such as Arduino; explore automation principles to apply their knowledge to process control, optimisation and monitoring systems; and learn how to integrate sensors and devices to improve efficiency, safety and convenience. The course also covers advanced topics such as device cybersecurity and data collection and analysis for decision-making. Students are challenged to create hands-on projects that develop device control and monitoring using smartphones, iPads and more.

CODE_DEV: Programming and Command Prompt

This course covers Python, C++, Java and HTML, teaching students the key concepts and fundamentals of programming and web development. The versatile and easy-to-learn Python language is widely used for software development, automation and data analysis. C++ is the programming language widely used in the development of high-performance systems, games and apps. Java, in turn, is the object-oriented programming language used to develop business and mobile apps. Finally, students learn HTML, the basic language for creating web pages, developing websites and interactive web applications.
